Submission Guidelines for Authors and Illustrators:
We encourage talented writers and illustrators worldwide to submit their work.
Poodle Doodle Press does not accept hardcopy submissions.
Please send submissions to right@poodledoodlepress.com
We do not require submissions to be exclusive, but we do ask that you inform us if you are simultaneously submitting your manuscript elsewhere.
We respond only to submissions we are interested in publishing. If you have not heard from us within three months of submission, you may conclude that we are not able to publish your manuscript or that we do not require your illustrating talents at this time.
Submission Protocols for Authors
Poodle Doodle Press publishes books for children aged 0-12 years. We offer a diverse range of books, encompassing graded readers, novelty books, accessible popular science works, timeless tales, nursery rhyme stories, and much more.
Our graded readers are curated by leading education experts. If you have EFL reading material writing experience and have any ideas for great EFL works or projects, we would be delighted to collaborate with you.
Our novelty books are usually in board book form. Please stick to a range of 100-200 words for the main content. Feel free to include subsidiary text beyond the 200-word limit (for example, text under flaps to be incorporated in the illustrations). Content should be related to the daily lives of young children. We prefer board books that rhyme or that have a rhyming component.
Our picture books, including popular science books, fairy tales, and rhyme stories, are usually in paperback form. We tend to prefer stories with warm or funny plots but we have no constraints as to content. Please stick to a limit of 350 words.
Moreover, be you have noticed it or not. Smayome of our books are in series; they are either in the same theme, or under the same IP. If you have great ideas about IP stories or some innovative themes, we are also delighted to explore the possibility of them with you.
Submission Protocols for Illustrators
For novelty books, we prefer bright colors and strong contrast.
For other books, we have no preferences that relate to color or style. We particularly appreciate illustrators who focus on the integration of text and illustration, and we love it when ingenious details are incorporated into illustrations so that they can be appreciated on various levels.
We appreciate diversity in our characters. Character design is entirely up to you.
Feel free to include a URL to your website or online gallery.
